One of the biggest failures we make in life is to judge ourselves by our worldly accomplishments, instead of our soul’s accomplishments. In a thousand years, for the vast majority of us, none of our worldly accomplishments be remembered or matter very much.
In contrast, our soul will live on. It will live on through our descendants and in the infinity beyond time and space. It helps us immeasurably if we take time to honor our soul accomplishments every year.
This process of noticing our soul accomplishments aligns us with what matters most – not politics, successes or failures, or even the development of our gifts and talents.
Being true to our soul matters at the end of the day, and the end of our lives, because at the art of our soul accomplishments is the power of love.
I believe it’s a good idea to have a little book of your soul accomplishments that you update every year. I call this your Celebrate Your Life Story. It’s a kind of mini-memoir of about 20 or so pages.
If you would like companionship doing this, I teach a course on creating a Celebrate Your Life Story in my winter retreat on December 21st. This is one of the most powerful things you could do for yourself or for someone you love to remember the beauty of their life. The link to the retreat details are in the comments below.
No matter what, be kind to your heart this season. Take time between now and the end of the year to thank yourself for all the ways you’ve been true to the callings of your soul.
